Project Background & Requirement
Mangalore is the chief port city of the Indian state of Karnataka, Mangalore is the largest city and administrative headquarters of the Dakshina Kannada district, and is one of the most multicultural non-metro cities of India. It is also the largest city in the Coastal and Malnad regions of Karnataka, besides being a commercial, industrial, educational and healthcare hub on the West Coast of India. This port city has the second largest airport in Karnataka Mangalore city. Due to its regional importance they need to address various concerns of crime management, traffic control and planning, better governance and efficient disaster management was recognized early by the Mangalore Police Department. The requirement of an efficient and integrated security surveillance system was the need of the hour. This would enable the Mangalore Police and the civic authorities to reduce the possibilities of a security threat and ensure better safety across the city.
Proposed Solution
An intelligent video analytical based solution was provided by AVTRON that could be monitored at all entry/exit points, traffic junctions and important tourist attractions around the clock. The objective of this project was to transform Mangalore into a safe city and ensure quicker response times and faster access to evidence in case of law violations. In Mangalore (area of 132.40 km), an installation at 8 Junctions/locations was made with 82 networking cameras. These include 75 fixed cameras & 7 PTZ cameras and professional Network Video recorders with Video wall concept. Central monitoring Software was provided for Number Plate capturing solutions which were commissioned by AVTRON.
Outcome
This smart solution provided by AVTRON has been successful in ensuring the safety and security of Mangalore City, making it into a smart city. It has helped law enforcement authorities to manage traffic in a much better manner, real-time tracking of crimes and has enabled better governance and civic administration. Our surveillance solution has also been able to help the civic authorities to monitor festivals and movement in the city. Incidents like traffic violations and theft will not pose a serious challenge to the authorities as they can always refer to video footage provided by AVTRON.
